If you have direct deposit, electronic payments are sent to your bank in time to be deposited on the first of the month. In most cases, your payment will be available on the first; however, if the first falls on a weekend or a holiday, your payment will be deposited on the next banking day.

Q

When are my benefit checks mailed?

All monthly benefit checks are mailed five business days before the first of the month. Checks can be cashed or deposited as of the date on the check. We highly recommend setting up direct deposit, due to its security and convenience.

Q

Why did my amount change?

There are several reasons your monthly pension payment could have changed. The most common reasons are listed below:

  • The Benefit Adjustment Option at age 62 or 65.
If you elected to have the benefit adjustment option at age 62 or 65, you would have received a higher amount prior to you turning age 62 or 65.  After turning age 62 or 65, your payment will reduce. If you have additional questions regarding your Benefit Adjustment Option, contact Prudential Financial at 1-800-336-3387. You also can review your account online by clicking the login button opens in a new window.
  • A change in the tax tables set forth by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The tax tables set by the IRS are subject to change and can affect the amount being taken from your pension for tax withholding purposes. Typically, changes to the Federal tax table occur around March of each year, and changes to the state tax tables (if applicable) occur around August of each year. You can change the amount you are withholding at any time: Click the login button to access your account opens in a new window or contact Prudential Financial at 1-800-336-3387.
Q
